For additional education information, visit the Department of Education website at: http://doe.k12.hi.us/index.html In addition to Hawaii public schools, there are a number of private schools, inluding Hawaii Montessori, Inc., Hawaii Preparatory Academy, High Scool of the Pacific, Hualalai Academy, Innovations, and Parker School.

 

The Big Island of Hawaii is divided into zones according to the degree of hazard from lava flows. Zone 1 is the area of greatest hazard, Zone 9 the least.
